Amazon.com and Smashwords are the places to find The Icarus Void in ebook format, and Lulu.com houses the print edition.
I dropped the price for a couple of reasons: first, well, maybe being an unknown author means selling your wares for the more affordable price possible. With ebooks, $.99 is the lowest you can go. $8.99 in print means I still get two quarters worth of profit from a sale. Those are attractive prices that fans of reading should be able to get down with, even in our futzy economic times.
Secondly, there’s a little over two weeks left to 2011. This year has been a series of ups and downs and crazy times all over. From what I’ve been told and researched, $.99 causes a lot of impulse buyers to pick up things without much hesitance. If I can sell a couple extra copies by going lower, and making this year end with a bang for myself, so be it.
I’m in the marketing phase. The creative aspect of my work ended once I got all the writing and editing done. I believe in my novel, my story, my work. I think it’s a great read and, well, while I won’t have the audacity to put in on the same shelf as top-tier works of sci-fi like Blade Runner or Alien, I feel confident in placing it next to works like Event Horizon and Sphere and saying, “Yes, I wrote this, I believe in it.” Now I have to sell it.
So the links are above, the announcement is thus, and whatever your holidays bring you, I hope they come with one thing in particular this year: lots of happiness.
After fiddling and contorting with the damn thing, I’ve uploaded my book, The Icarus Void, onto Lulu.com. It’s currently available for $9.99 in paperback form.
Part of me wanted to stick to the ebook format as that is the easiest and possibly most profitable form of marketing and promoting my work. The rest of me remembers what it’s like to read an actual, physical book, like I’m currently doing with Stephen King’s latest, 11/22/63. It’s magnificent to do. Books are wonderful, beautiful things, and the act of reading something in my hands is a physical experience that I personally cherish. So, for those who are interested (and for myself to order and to carry around and sign) I present the print version, and if it pleases you to order it, I am humbled and honored at your choice.
Have a look, leave a review if it pleases you to do so, and many thank yous for reading.
Currently only available on Smashwords, The Icarus Void is $1.99 and available in all ereader formats.
Check it out!
On December 19th, 2011, The Icarus Void will be available in digital format.
Pricing and where you can get it will be soon to follow!
It’s been a little while since a proper update has been posted re: the release of The Icarus Void, but there’s been a lot of life happening and a lot of behind the scenes stuff still going on, so please stay tuned as there will be blood updates as to when the book is coming out, chapter excerpts, etc. Thanks to all who are following!
When artist Shon Burch delivered the final designs for the Hazardous Environment Suit (HES), he gave me about five versions of colored images, and this one I think fit the mood of the story best.
I ought to be updating more but things are busy over on this side of the street. I plan on releasing a new chapter excerpt soon, along with thoughts on writing, whether horror or adventure (of which this novel has fair amounts of both).
Until then, enjoy the lovely artwork.
